Our Journey

2016

One Kindness
Changed Joseph's Life.

In 2016, a compassionate family from Sweden chose to believe in a poor village boy from Uganda whom they had never met before. Their generosity did more than pay for an education, it restored hope, gave him a future, and changed the course of his life forever.

Before that moment, Joseph's dream of becoming educated was slipping away. His father, a struggling peasant farmer, even tried to sell the family's small sweet potato garden to raise university tuition, but no buyer came. Every scholarship application was rejected. With no money, no opportunities, and nowhere else to turn, his future seemed lost.

That single act of kindness became the foundation of Emetack. Today, the same village boy is helping young people gain practical ICT skills, build careers, create businesses, and transform their own communities through technology.

2019

A Vision Was Born

Emetack was founded in 2019 in a single rented room in Masaka, Uganda, with just UGX 3.5 million (approximately USD 950 at the time) and one bold vision: to use technology and practical ICT education to help young people create better futures for themselves and their communities. There were no investors, no large grants, and no modern facilities, only determination, knowledge, and a belief that opportunity should never depend on where someone is born.

2020

Growing Beyond Expectations

Within its first year, Emetack expanded by establishing a mini-supermarket with an investment of UGX 25 million, creating an additional source of income to sustain the growing technology business. The strategy strengthened cash flow, created employment, and demonstrated that long-term impact requires sustainable business models, not dependence alone. The future looked promising.

Mid-2020

A Crisis That Tested Everything

Then COVID-19 changed the world. Schools closed, businesses stopped operating, movement was restricted, and nearly every source of income disappeared. Like thousands of small enterprises across Africa, Emetack faced one of the greatest challenges in its history. Months of hard work seemed to vanish overnight. Yet while the pandemic paused operations, it did not destroy the vision. Instead, it strengthened the resolve to build an institution capable of surviving future challenges.

2021

Investing in Tomorrow During Uncertainty

While many businesses were reducing their ambitions, Emetack made one of its boldest decisions by acquiring land in Kampala. It was an investment not only in property but in the future of thousands of young people who would one day need quality classrooms, modern technology facilities, and practical skills to compete in the digital economy. It was a statement that the mission was bigger than the crisis.

2022

The First Foundation Was Laid

Construction of the first classroom facilities began, marking an important milestone in turning vision into reality. Every brick represented more than a building; it represented belief that education remains one of the most powerful tools for reducing poverty, creating employment, and empowering communities. Although progress was limited by available resources, the commitment never changed.

2023

Growth Created New Challenges

Demand for practical ICT training continued to increase, leading Emetack to expand into four rented rooms along the Masaka–Mbarara Highway opposite Masaka High Court, creating three classrooms and one office. The expansion allowed many more students to access training, but the location also exposed serious operational challenges, including repeated security incidents, theft, inadequate parking, and limited accessibility because the premises were situated below the main road. Even so, students continued to enrol because they believed in the quality of education and the opportunities Emetack was creating.

2024

Building a Better Learning Environment

To improve safety, accessibility, and the overall learning experience, Emetack expanded again into a full residential property within the same area. The larger premises provided additional classrooms, improved office space, better parking, and a more professional environment for students, staff, and visitors. It represented another important step toward becoming one of Uganda's leading practical ICT training centres.

2025

Investing in Capacity, Quality, and Sustainability

Rather than focusing only on expansion, Emetack invested heavily in strengthening its long-term capacity. New computers improved digital learning, company vehicles enhanced operations, modern furniture upgraded classrooms, advanced software tools increased efficiency, employee training improved service delivery, and marketing expanded the organisation's reach across Uganda. Every investment was made to ensure that future growth would be built on quality, professionalism, and sustainability.

2026

From a Small Dream to National Impact

Today, Emetack serves students, businesses, schools, organisations, and communities across Uganda. What began in one rented room has grown into a recognised centre for practical ICT education, software development, digital innovation, and technology services. Behind every number is a life changed, a business strengthened, or a young person given an opportunity to build a better future.
